SimpleTest 1.0.1RC1 has been released

SimpleTest is a unit testing, mock objects and web testing framework for PHP built around test cases.

This is nearly the last release that supports PHP4. Includes some bug fixes and enhancements, especially in handling exceptions. In addition mocks can now throw errors and exceptions.

csUnit 2.3 has been released

csUnit 2.3 has been released and is available for download. Inspired by JUnit, csUnit brings the power of unit testing to the .NET framework

This is a release containing a number of bug fixes. No new feature has been added.

This release has been tested in the following environments (all english):
- Visual Studio 2005 with .NET 2.0 on Vista Ultimate (32 bit)
- Visual Studio 2005 with .NET 2.0 on Windows XP SP2
- Stand alone testing application with .NET 3.0 on Vista Ultimate (32 bit)
- Stand alone testing application with .NET 3.5 on Vista Ultimate (32 bit)

Note that applications written in VS2008 targeting .NET 2.0, .NET 3.0, and .NET 3.5 can be tested with csUnit.

This release contains an addin for VS2005. An addin for VS2008 is being considered for a future release.

Parameterized testing is still in the Experimental namespace. It is expected to be moved out of it in a future release.

Wireshark 1.0.0pre1 is available for testing

Wireshark 1.0.0pre1 is now available for testing. Installers for Windows, OS X,
and source code can be downloaded immediately. The Mac OS X installer is new for this release, and is experimental. An in-progress list of changes can be found in the release notes. Barring any problems, version 1.0.0 will be released during Sharkfest on Monday, March 31st.

DbUnit 2.2.1 released

DbUnit is a JUnit extension (also usable with Ant) targeted for database-driven projects that, among other things, puts your database into a known state between test runs. This release fixes a host of issues and revitalizes the project.

Unplanned server outage

Open Source Testing experienced some server outage today when the database server went down between 13:00 and 14:30 GMT. Apologies for any inconvenience this caused.

Review of Selenium Users Meetup

Matt Raible has posted up a great article on his blog about the Selenium Users Meeting at the Google Campus.

“Last night, I attended the inaugural Selenium User Group meetup at Google’s Campus in Mountain View. It was an excellent event, with many of the core committers on hand to present and answer questions. Each presenter had about 5 minutes to speak and we learned many things about the Selenium Project itself, what’s coming in the future and how Google has standardized on Selenium as their integration testing tool of choice.”

First alpha release of abbot.swt 0.1.0

Abbot is a simple framework for unit and functional testing of Java GUIs. The first alpha release of abbot.swt 0.1.0 has been released.

Tsung 1.2.2 is released

Tsung is a distributed load testing tool.
This version adds new features, such as SMP and kernel polling support and erlang R12B compatibility. The major plugins, such as the XMPP plugin, were improved. Several bugs were fixed.

Linux Test Project February 2008 release announcement

The Linux Test Project is a group aimed at testing and improving Linux. The goal of the LTP is to deliver a suite of automated testing tools for Linux as well as publishing the results of tests we run. There are 67 amends in this months release, take a look at the project website for full details.

STAF V3.2.5 and STAX V3.3.2 are now available

The Software Testing Automation Framework (STAF) is an open source, multi-platform, multi-language test automation framework. STAX is an execution engine which can help you thoroughly automate the distribution, execution, and results analysis of your testcases.

STAF V3.2.5 and STAX V3.3.2 are now available. You can find more information and download the binaries from the official STAF web site. There are some new features in STAF and STAX as well as bug fixes and documentation updates.
