    – Ability to attach screenshot of AUT
    – A button so that tests can click and system infomration gets attached to the defect.
    – I will like to an API so that defects so that other developers can use tools like TestDirector to run test cases and bug database to store bugs.
Testdirector defect module can be expensive

    Hallo All,

I think the Items from Mark and Dimon are fine.
To many details would rather confuse then help.

I also would add “minimal efford needed, to get it working”.

I would be interested to see the provisional result. Could you put it
    in the thread Mark?

    Regards.

Updated list is as follows. I have merged a few similar ones. Also, I think something like ease of installation (vheinitz) is quite subjective depending on the skills of the person installing, so have not included it, have tried to just include items that have a clear yes/no answer, apart from the Platform items, which will require a brief description. Very busy right now, but havent forgotten about prototyping this! Will post more when it happens…

Yes Sam, thanks for the reminder  I have been rather slack on this one and got completely sidelined by the website redesign which turned into a major undertaking! Now thats out of the way I have one more task to do (RSS feeds, which will be live next week) then Ill get on with the feature comparison. I have actually done the database design and some screen mockups to support this so I just need to implement it, which should be pretty straightforward. Once thats done thatll be it on the enhancements front for a while. However the roadmap is still brimming with good ideas, both personal ones and from the user community, some of which are just too timeconsuming to do on my own what with the baby and all! So in response to some very kind offers of development help from the sites users Ill probably be open sourcing the website code itself which hopefully means the site will be able to develop at a faster pace than Ill be able to achieve on my own. Watch this space :D

Maybe this is covered by all the DB related items under PLATFORM, if so, then ignore the rest of this message.

I know one problem in the past with various defect tracking systems is the ability to import and/or export the database in a common format. At some point, provided the development lasts long enough, the dev team/person is going to want to switch to another defect tracking system (or, at least, demo one). Ive learned, through other peoples expereince, to stay away from tools that cant export to a common format, since time spent converting data is a waste when that time could be spent developing. ;)

    Hi all,

Bet you never thought it would happen, but I have finally got a working feature comparison for bug databases so please pop over to http://www.opensourcetesting.org/bugdb.php and take a look. Consider it a beta, it is all working nicely, but there is still work to do. In true web 2.0 fashion I would like to extend the functionality in order to allow registered users to add and edit the tool data themselves – I can happily finish the bug databases section but the rest of the tool categories are too much for one person to do themselves!

Two other things not yet implemented are:
    – Make a print css for ease of printing.
    – Add a remove link at the bottom of each displayed tool.

So, have a play with it, Im keen to hear your feedback, suggestions and bugs!

Once Ive completed work on it, then Ill implement it across the site for all the other tool categories…

    Thanks very much :)

Working with an bug database (issue management) system could not do without a proper filter and sorting mechanism.
