dont suggest that I should use “top” or any home-made script. Those are ruled out.

Im looking for a tool for measuring and logging CPU load values of a Java application on a Linux platform (64bit SuSE 10.1, Java 6 SDK). By CPU load I mean how much CPU time our application uses every second. Tool can be commercial or open source also.

Is there some globally used term for this kind of “performance testing” tool?

Ive been trying to find this kind of tool for some time now, but every “perfromance testing tool” that Ive found is designed for testing query performance of a server or something. Profiler tools are used to measure the internal performance of an application, so these are not quite what Im looking for either.

    Thanks in advance.
